Ecliptic RocketCam™ Cameras Capture Cosmos-1 Solar Sail Deployment Test

2002 Jul 09

An Ecliptic RocketCam™ system supplied to The Planetary Society has captured excellent color video of the deployment test for a full-scale blade model for the Society's solar-sail spacecraft project, Cosmos-1. The test was conducted in a large vacuum chamber at space research organization NPO Lavochkin in Khimki, Russia, a suburb of Moscow. Two Ecliptic RocketCam cameras were operating inside the chamber throughout the two-day test. For a full report, see the news release from The Planetary Society, which includes a link to the deployment video.
