Ecliptic's RocketCamâ„¢ Featured in Discovery Channel Specials on SpaceShipOne Story, Airing Oct 3 and Oct 7

2004 Sep 24

For over two years, the behind-the-scenes story of the development of the SpaceShipOne and White Knight manned suborbital launch system has been documented so it can be shared with the interested public. Discovery Channel will broadcast the result, Black Sky: The Race for Space, next week in a 2-hour special airing on October 3, a few days after the first of two planned X Prize flights on September 29. The second and perhaps winning flight for this innovative launch system is tentatively scheduled for October 4. A rebroadcast of Black Sky with a recap of the X Prize run is scheduled for October 7.

Ecliptic provided the onboard RocketCamâ„¢ video systems for both vehicles early in the flight test program. Highlights of the various onboard views of the dramatic flight test events, from multiple cameras placed inside and outside the two vehicles, will be featured in the Discovery Channel special. See a sample clip at our website.

Be sure to carefully check local broadcast times for your time zone and Discovery Channel TV service provider to catch these broadcasts.

The sponsor for the X Prize competition, the X Prize Foundation, will also webcast the X Prize action on each flight day, September 29 and October 4, starting in the early morning hours California time.
