Cygnus Takes RocketCam on Orb-1 Ride

2014 Jan 09

The first operational mission for the new Cygnus cargo vehicle got off to a good start today onboard its Antares launcher.

Called the Orb-1 mission in NASA parlance — "Orb" short for Antares/Cygnus manufacturer/operator "Orbital") — the Cygnus vehicle will rendezvous with ISS in a few days, get captured by the ISS robotic arm and then berthed with an ISS docking port.

A 3-camera RocketCam system will follow the action throughout the mission, as one did during the first Cygnus demo mission during September-October last year.
